    • Akane Zome dyed by craftsmen in Fukuoka
    • About Akane Zome: Japanese dyeing technique that has been used since the Asuka period (AD592-710). Originating in Iwate Prefecture, it is a plant based dyeing method that uses the roots of a perennial plant called madder. The name Akane means the red roots used for dyeing.
    • Characteristics of Akane Zome: An ancient color that is not 100% red but it has a slightly yellowish hue reminiscent of a sunset sky. This dye was used to color the Japanese flag red, and it is the oldest dye used in Japan for dyeing red colors.

    SOME-ISM's cotton knitted cap, made from a white NEWHATTAN cotton knit cap and carefully hand-dyed by Akane Zome artisans in Fukuoka, Japan.

    Featuring a distinctive hue reminiscent of a sunset sky, the cap showcases a beautifully rich and vibrant color achieved through the traditional Akane Zome technique.

    Made from cotton, it is comfortable to wear throughout the year.

    Please wash separately as the color may bleed onto other items when washed. Do not use bleach or detergents containing bleach or optical brighteners. Do not leave it on as this may cause discoloration, and do not leave it unattended after washing. Dry it in the shade. After washing, please store it in a place where it will not be exposed to direct light, as even household lighting will cause discoloration. Do not dry clean nor iron it.
